Prairie Homestead Senior Living was born and raised right here in Wichita, Kansas.
We've been honored to serve the Wichita retirement community since 1965. So, there's a few things that we'd like to share - things we humbly feel set us apart. And we hope you feel the same.
We're local
A lot of new Wichita-area independent and assisted living facilities have sprouted up over the last few years. Large national corporations, seeing the oncoming Baby Boomer retirement bubble, have invested tens of millions of dollars to build often lavish and extravagant living accommodations with the hope of capitalizing on the surge of seniors. Unfortunately, families and retirement funds have to pay for the opulence, and the profits go back to some corporate office on the coast.
Not so with Prairie Homestead Senior Living. Our Board members are all local (and it's not uncommon to see them stop in at lunch time to join us), and so everything we do is a reflection of our focus - right here in Wichita.
We're nonprofit
People before profits. In a nutshell, that's how we think. Sure, we have to be fiscally responsible and accountable. But we don't have to guarantee a certain Return on Investment to a group of investors in another time zone. We're true to who we are, and have been, for over 50 years.
We're faith based
Founded by the American Baptist laity and ministries in 1965, our mission is an expression of Christian values and morals. At Prairie Homestead you'll find residents who come from a wide variety of religious backgrounds, enriching the lives of all Prairie Homestead residents. We welcome all faiths with open arms and loving hearts.
We're familiar
One of the things we're most proud of is that 9 out of 10 new residents choose Prairie Homestead because they currently know, or have known, someone who's made their home here. That's right, multi-generations of families now reside at Prairie Homestead to gracefully age in place among friends and neighbors in one community. And we couldn't be more blessed to have them now living in the same community their mothers and fathers enjoyed.
