Q: How do I know if I am able financially to move to Prairie Homestead?
A: The administrator will discuss this matter with you and assist you in evaluating your resources for your present and future needs. If you have an average retirement income and own a home, there should be no problem in regard to this matter. We feel people living within a moderate income can live very comfortably at Prairie Homestead.
Q: What are the health requirements for living at Prairie Homestead?
A: Residents must be ambulatory, mentally alert and able to live without assistance to qualify for independent living. Residency is available to residents if your physical, social and medical needs can be met appropriately by Prairie Homestead.
The resident is best served if in a setting which meets the respective needs. If a resident's physical needs change after accepted as a resident, our continuing care program is designed to meet most physical limitations.
Q: Do I have to be a Baptist to live at Prairie Homestead?
A: No. Prairie Homestead is very keen about its relationship with the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A. Our beginning and life is very much a part of the American Baptist tradition. However, our retirement community is non-sectarian and non-discriminatory in accepting residents of all faiths.
Q: What does the monthly service charge cover?
A: The monthly service charge covers a comprehensive range of amenities and services. Payable each month, this is used to pay the costs of daily operating expenses for our retirement community.
The amount of the monthly service charge is reviewed once a year by the Board of Directors. Adjustments are made in relation to the cost of providing services.
Q: What happens when a transfer to another apartment or to the assisted living is necessary?
A: Transfers to one apartment to another are provided under our agreements. The monthly service charge is adjusted to reflect the rate for the apartment you choose.
Q: Must I turn over all my assets to Prairie Homestead?
A: No. Prairie Homestead does not take over anyone's estate. Our residents only have to provide us with evidence of financial ability to meet the obligations of living in the retirement community.
Q: Is Prairie Homestead governed or controlled by any agency of the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A.?
A: No. Prairie Homestead is affiliated with regional and national units of the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A. Neither the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A. or any other American Baptist organization is responsible for the contractual or financial obligations of Prairie Homestead.
